Eco-sustainable furniture, bright green design.

The Santa Barbara Sectional

The Santa Barbara Sectional elegantly combines contemporary design, comfort, and ecological intelligence. Designer Robert Craymer utilizes natural, healthy materials to create his innovative eco-friendly furniture collection. The sofa frame is made of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certifed wood. The springs and screws are made of recycled steel. All glues and stains are non-toxic, water-based and formaldehyde-free. The cushion options are natural latex, natural soy or recycled foam. A wide range of upholstery options are available using sustainable fabrics such cotton, linen, hemp, and bamboo.

  1. Craymer's design and sensitivity are to be commended. Another nice touch would be using a non-polluting dye on the actual upholstery - here is a study on the potential culprits: http://dyespigments.com/pollution-control-dyeing-units.html
One technology that could be useful in airdye - which saves water and never fades from its unique dyeing process that molecularly joins the color to the fabric itself. (www.airdye.com/?)

  2. Maintainable furnishings style is an effort to address the ecological effect of Sustainable Furniture items on the surroundings by considering all factors of the style and production procedure. Design concerns can include using reprocessed components in the production procedure and using items that can be taken apart and reprocessed after their useful life. Maintainable furnishings style aims to create a closed-loop pattern in which components and items are constantly reprocessed so as to avoid convenience in dumps. The Think Seat by Steelcase is a latest example of sustainable furnishings style.
